Suze Orman: Living a Rich and Satisfying Life

By Marsala

Suze OrmanI was so excited to interview Suze Orman because I love everything she stands for, things like delayed gratification, fiscal responsibility, and knowing the difference between what you want and what you truly need.

In the interview which is on another page, Suze validates the principles that I learned at an early age that have served me well.  When I started babysitting at the age of 13 I earned 50 cents an hour. I remember how excited I was when the going rate increased to 75 cents and then it was a whole dollar.

After spending five long hours with hyper kids or a fussy infant and coming home with a hard-earned $5.00, I quickly learned to question the value of what I wanted to buy rather than squander it thoughtlessly.

Push Girls: The Best in Reality TV

By Marsala

Push GirlsIf you need a shot of inspiration, a dose of courage, or a kick in the butt, tune into Push Girls on the Sundance Channel Monday nights at 10:00 p.m.

The show stars Angela Rockwood, Auti Angel, Tiphany Adams, and Mia Schaikewitz, four hot, fearless friends who, through accident or illness, are paralyzed from the neck or waist down.

Forget the Real Housewives of New York, Atlanta, Beverly Hills or anywhere else. If you want to come away feeling good,  filled with gratitude for your life and ready to tackle the world, Push Girls is it.

Angela, Auti, Tiphany and Mia’s motto is “IF YOU CAN’T STAND UP, STAND OUT” and boy do they. These women know who they are and they don’t waste one moment feeling sorry for themselves. They are fully engaged in life. That’s something we can all stand to remember.

Dave Koz: Hello Tomorrow

By Marsala

Dave KozSharing a glass of wine and the smooth, soulful, sultry sounds of jazz with friends and family is one of the beautiful pleasures in life, and saxophonist extraordinaire Dave Koz is able to deliver both the music and the libation.

Dave, who was once the band leader on The Emeril Lagasse Show, has made music with some of the greatest luminaries in the world for more than 20 years, including Barry Manilow, Burt Bacharach, Celine Dion, Johnny Mathis, Kenny Loggins, Luther Vandross, Michael McDonald, Natalie Cole, Ray Charles, Rod Stewart, Vanessa Williams, and U2 that has earned him a much deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Eva Longoria: A Bountiful Harvest of Love, Compassion and Forgiveness

By Marsala

Eva Longoria - Up Close & Personal with Marsala RypkaI had the chance to get “Up Close and Personal with Eva Longoria” and in talking with her it quickly became obvious that Eva is quite different than the spoiled, self-centered, ex-model, Gabrielle Solis, she plays to perfection on Desperate Housewives.

While Eva has graced the covers of Vogue, Marie Claire and Harper’s Bazaar, she is much more than a beautiful, sexy woman. What impressed me most about her is that she is incredibly smart, articulate, and outspoken about important social and political issues that include immigration reform, labor laws for farm workers and the roles available for Latinos/Latinas in Hollywood, as well as in life.

Paul McCartney: Love Is All You Need

By Marsala

Love Is All You Need! Here at Celebrity Scribe I’m always looking for those nuggets of gold, those pearls of wisdom gleaned from people who seem to have it all, that will bring more insight and enlightenment to my life.

Yesterday I was in a reflective mood. Yesterday, Paul McCartney, who I fell madly in love with at the pubescent age of 13, married his girlfriend of four years, Nancy Shevell, on what would have been John Lennon’s 71st birthday (October 9, 2011).

I believe Paul’s marital choices say a lot about what the person he is. As I look back over The Long and Winding Road that he has traveled, I’ve been able to extract some valuable lessons from him about love, loss and life.

Nate Berkus: Transforming Homes, Transforming Hearts

By Marsala

Nate BerkusI liked Nate Berkus long before I interviewed him for Luxury Las Vegas Magazine, and long before I became friends with his mom Nancy Golden,  a fabulous leather jewelry designer who, like me, lives in Las Vegas.

The first time I saw Nate was in 2002 when he started doing room makeovers on the Oprah Winfrey show, and like everyone else who tuned in, I was smitten with the design expert and his thick, wavy brown hair, his beautiful blue eyes, and his dazzling smile.

It didn’t take long to figure out that Nate was going to become a household name and follow in the footsteps of Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz and get his own television show. But it wasn’t because of his good looks, or because Oprah was his mentor.

Nate got his own show because he’s not only talented and so handsome you could eat him up, but because he has a sensitive nature, a compassionate heart, and a warm and down-to-earth personality that folks connect with.
